Toy Review:
Color Scheme:
Royal blue, light blue, gray, white, and some red. In robot mode, the overall impression is "BLUE!" In vehicle mode, there's a lot more gray shown, making it much less striking in the blue spectrum. This is a good thing, IMHO. While I like blue, it's nice to have two different appearances between robot and alternate modes.
Robot Mode:
Big legs. That's the first thing you notice. The entire back half of his vehicle mode becomes most of his legs. In fact, proportionally, they're at least half of his robot mode height. If he were meant to be a leggy femme-bot, this wouldn't be a problem, but it just looks silly. Other than the huge legs, he looks pretty cool. Part of the ramps from his vehicle mode form wing-like things on his back. He also has a pretty hefty jet pack on his back.
Vehicle Mode:
A car carrier truck. Go figure. ;-) It's really quite cool, since you can put three of the deluxe cars on him as if he's carrying them. Talk about enhancing play value of these toys! Not only that, but he looks really cool. My only complaint is that his BFG can't be mounted up front so that when you have the car brothers being carried, they're not in the way of "Blue Bolts" (said BFG). OK, one more complaint... Just like RiD Optimus Prime, he divides in two to transform. This connection can be somewhat insecure. What's worse is that it can be a pain to get back together again. There's also no hinge between the cab and the trailer, it's just one long piece of car carrier machinery.
Transformation:
As mentioned earlier, his sections separate. The rear then transforms into his legs, and the cab become his body to which his legs attach. He has some tricky things to do, particularly getting his wings into the correct position, and his head rotated and flipped up properly. This doesn't bother me, though, as I prefer large toys to be more complex than the smaller ones.
Gimmicks:
He's got plenty. He has electronics like Optimus Prime does, but his are more complex. Depending on what mode he's in, and what special buttons are being pressed on him, he speaks as himself in various phrases, or as Omega Prime. Yes, his main gimmick is his ability to merge with Optimus Prime to become Omega Prime, a huge Autobot with unmatched powers, such as the ability to fall apart at any given moment. ;-) His gun, Blue Bolts, also "transforms" into three different gun things, though two of them are essentially the same but with different barrels.
Pros/Cons:
Cool vehicle mode, OK robot mode, nice gimmicks, and merges with Optimus Prime to become Omega Prime. Also, some people have had trouble with certain tires on him splitting. I've had one split on mine, and another it about to. This can probably be fixed with a little rubber patching glue (like you use to patch holes in inflatable pools and toys), but I don't like to modify my toys, even when they break. Keep this in mind when playing with him, 'cus you don't want to lose the tire completely if it splits.

Merges with Optimus Prime to form Omega Prime!

Comments: I really enjoy this toy. I'm not mechanically inclined but I have changed him over once or twice. The complex transformation doesn't bother me because I change his modes only once in a blue moon; my siblings do it a lot more often than I do, and seem to manage just fine without the instructions, which I keep with the box.

He spends a lot of time on my desk trying to get his keys back from Optimus Prime, and when he's in transport mode I load him with the Autobot Brothers.

I should mention that the Ultra Magnus I have is a Universe repaint, with dark legs instead of blue ones, but he combines with Optimus just fine and I was really happy to get him.

His cartoon personality doesn't hurt anything, either. =)

Comments: ULTRA MAGNUS ROCKS! His body is somewhat odd looking, But his Massive legs and lower arms make him look far more powerfull than his grandpa. And his eyes... SWEET. I got Magnus and Prime rather late. If I had bought them straight away at a collectors converence in the Netherlands (where I live), they would have kost me fl.1000,-, nearly 500 dollars!

Comments: This has got to be the coolest Transformers toy i've ever played with. Vehicle mode is incredible, i love carrying all my other Transformers in Ultra Magnus. Robot mode is even cooler, half the fun is reading the instructions and transforming him. don't even listen to Rik, people like him should not be alowed to play with Transformers, if the guy is stupid enough to buy his six year old one of the most complex toys on the market, there is no way in hell he could comprehend the complexities of the trasformation manual. But overall Ultra Magnus KICKS ASS period, no questions asked.

Comments: I LOVE this toy! For one thing, he looks so cool, and for another thing, he can hold 3 deluxe cars in transport mode! Omega Prime is the ABSOLUTE best combiner ever formed, no If's And's or But's.
(P.S. Go Blue Bolts!)

Comments: This thing is awsome, no if ands or buts about is. However I do have a problem: I was abole to tranform him easily ever since I read the instructions, but though I know how to transform him well, it still takes for ever because he so big.

Comments: Okay. It's rather leggy, and the forearms are a bit heavy, what with the forearm-gloving trick, but it's got ball-joint shoulders, so the arms get a little floppy sometimes. It's got all its weight up in it's chest, so it's wobbly, but... Still. Damn, it's cool. You can wrap it around prime (as previously stated), but then you can wrap all of Prime's extra armor around Omega, too, making it even bigger, and... Damn. Vehicle mode doesn't really remind me of a truck all that much, he's a slaggin' freight train. Damn, that's cool... So. It loses points for wobblyness and slightly limp arms, but... Damn. Severely cool.

Comments: awsome great toy its not that hard to transform hey a quarter of the fun of transformers are usually how unique each tranformer is
oh a i wouldnt by a 6 year old an advanced transformer unless you start out small cause i know the ratings are a little screwy but still

Comments: I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one that had a hard time transforming him. I had already thrown away the box, so I didn't even have a final picture to go by and got frustrated trying to find one on the web, though I finally did. The instructions sheet is all but useless. I'm thinking about creating an instructions page of my own. I'll try to remember to come back and post a link here when I get it done. Once he's transformed, though, he's just about the best looking robot or vehicle ever. I also love Omega Prime except that the head/chest pops off Optimus too easily.

Comments: This is a ridiculous toy. My son (6) was heartbroken trying to transform this stupid thing. I am a doctor of computer science and I COULDN'T DO IT - NOT EVEN CLOSE! I hate this thing and an returning it. I'll buy my son a pony - thats easier to deal with.

Comments: All Ultra Magnus fans should buy this new Ultra Magnus RID. He is beautiful in both vehicle and robot mode. In vehicle mode, I think the old Magnus looks better but in robot mode, Magnus RID is the winner. Transformation can be confusing and frustrating especially his wing and putting him back between his cab and trailer. Overall, he's a wonderful toy to have for a collection.

I'm glad Magnus RID still retains his alternate mode: Car transport and his traditional colors: blue and white. Unlike the old Magnus, this one (in both toy and cartoon) looks very intimidating, superior, and mean, which can kick any decepticons in a second. Ultra Magnus RID is utterly cool.

Comments: Can't say much about the robot mode, since I never figured out the transformation. The instructions can be quite confusing for young person. This by far is the most difficult robot to transform of all my figures. Great truck mode though, but falls apart easily like optimus when handled rough. I just bought this guy to form Omega Prime, and he is probably one of the most awesome looking figures I have ever seen! His feet can swivel side to side so no more standing the robot on the inside edge of foot when legs are apart.

Comments: this new version of ultra magnis is cool. i like how they kept the colors of blue ans white like the original. transforming him from truck to robot was a little difficulst at first but after once or twice you can get the hang of it.
