Toy Review:
Color Scheme:
Typical gestalt hodge-podge of colors. He's the combination of the Build Team, therefore he has one large green part, one large red part, one large yellow part, and a medium sized orange part right smack in the middle of it all. While it's not a balanced or cohseive scheme at all, it's not as painful on the eyes as one might think. The hues they chose for each team member are agreeable to me, so when all of them are together, it's ok with me as well.
Robot Mode:
He's got three robot modes, actually. Each mode is a different configuration of the three main robots, Hightower, Grimlock, and Heavy Load. Wedge, the orange medium sized robot, connects to the center of the other three and serves as the chest and head and shoulders of the gestalt in all three modes. The other three bots trade places as either the left leg, the right leg, or the back and arms. Each one can serve equally well in any of the modes, but I think I'm partial to the version with Grimlock as the arms, and Heavy Load and Hightower as the legs. To me this is more stable and balanced, both physically and to the eye, than the other two combinations. The other modes are nice, and I like the bulkiness of the arms when the other two take their turns supplying the arms, but I don't like Grimlock as a leg at all. If they had all been designed like Heavy Load and Hightower, it might be more boring, but it would sure be more stable and brawny looking.
He can be a bit tricky. For the two robots who are legs in whatever combination you choose, they're basically just in vehicle mode with the conneting arm sticking out. The robot who is to be the arms, though, must be transformed in a particular way to get the arms in a good position with the rest of the robot out of the way, and the connecting arm in the right place. Once you've gotten them all transformed correctly, you have to connect the three non-Wedge robots with the connection arms. While carefully holding them together, because they will slip apart if you're not careful, you have to put Wedge on at a funny angle, then rotate him into position, and peg him onto whichever bot is being the arms. Once you get the hang of it, it's no big deal, but instructions can come in mighty handy for some people. ;-)
Landfill comes laden with the gimmicks of each of the Build Team members. Any weapon of a Build Team member can be used by Landfill, except for Wedge's double-barreled gun thing, which serves as Landfill's codpiece. hehe. :)
He's a good sized toy when combined, with a unique assembly design. He can be a little wobbly and unstable, especially while being assembled, though. As a team, I give him high marks. The individual members have a lot of character, and together they make a great odd-ball group of buddies.

Comments: i love the way he looks as well, and would argue that he is far more manouverable and less likely to fall apart than his 'scramble city' gestalt counterparts.

Comments: I was lucky. I got all 4 of these guys plus Ruination for 30NZ dollars and they were brand new. I wasn't as pleased with Landfill as much as I was with Ruination but the bright side was you didn't have to stick on and take of any pieces like Ruination. But he was still worth the money, it was basically $7.50 American for the whole of Team Landfill.
