Countdown

(DAYS:HOURS:MINUTES:SECONDS)

John "Lazerbait" Haugland and Greg "Flux" Gaub are hosting a Lazer Tag event at Fort Worden in September of 2008. This page will have all the information you need to make your plans to attend. First off, let us reassure everyone that there is no fee to attend the games! We will, however, accept your kind donations toward the cost of reserving the batteries for the game days. The information you'll find below includes registering for the event (i.e. a head count/RSVP) as well as reservations for the dorm we are booking for people to stay in. The dorm rooms cost money, but they are a whole lot less expensive than any other option in the city, AND they include board/food. If you have any questions after reading all the information on this page, please feel free to send me an e-mail and I'll answer them ASAP.

Accommodations

We have reserved a dormitory on the fort itself for those coming from far away, or otherwise wishing to spend Friday and Saturday night in the area. Don't be put off by the word "dorm" though. The dorm we have reserved is the Fort's A225 Upstairs West wing, which has 24 private rooms, 5 of which have 2 beds in them. This is not a big room with a bunch of bunks and cots! There is no wheelchair/disabled access to this wing, so do not register for a room if you cannot handle stairs for any reason. Alas, the dorm is not free. The arrangement we have made is for two nights, Friday the 5th and Saturday the 6th. The arrangement also includes meals! (not including Pizza dinner on the 6th) The cost has increased slightly since last year (the park did this, not us!).

If you wish to have a room in the dorm, the cost, for BOTH nights, including meals (Fri. Dinner, Sat. Breakfast and Box Lunch, Sun. Breakfast) comes to a grand total of $110 per person. YOU MUST pay prior to August 1st. Again, that price covers your room and board, as well as bed linens, for your entire stay. We have a minimum requirement of 16 people or else we lose money, and a maximum occupancy in the dorm of 29 people. The dorm wing has 29 beds and 24 rooms, which means there are 5 rooms with two beds each, which will be prioritized for couples. To claim a room, please fill out the Registration form appropriately. Note that your reservation cannot be guaranteed until payment is received.

If you would like to arrange room and board elsewhere, feel free to go to the Fort Worden web site, or the Port Townsend web site. Fort Worden has many options for places to stay, including apartment style quarters all the way down to camping. Port Townsend has hotels and motels like any other city. We do hope that anyone who plans to stay overnight please consider the dorm option at least until the 16 person minimum is met (refer to the list of attendees below). Not only will it help ensure that events like this take place in the future, but also the more in the dorm, the merrier! :)

Registration / R.S.V.P.

If you plan to attend this game, whether you are staying in the dorm or finding your own lodging or making it a day trip, please fill out this form. We are limited to 40 players at the Battery, and 29 people in the dorm. To ensure your place in the dorm, and/or as a player at the battery, PLEASE fill out this form. If you find out that you cannot attend for some reason after registering, PLEASE contact me as soon as possible.

Staying in Dorm?
If staying in the dorm, how will you pay?
Notes or Questions:

If you will be paying by PayPal, after you fill out the form above, return to this page and click the button below. The price is $110. If you are paying for more than one person, you will need to return to this page and click the button below again. If you would like to pay in intallments rather than one lump sum, please contact me directly. With installments, your reservation is not secure until the total payment is made.

Pay for Reservation

There will be a T-Shirt again this year, but it is a separate, optional expense. If you want a T-Shirt, please click the link and place your order.

Cancellation

If, for some reason, you need to cancel your reservation, you MUST cancel by August 1st. If you send me a cancellation e-mail by that date, we will refund any monies you have paid. If you don't cancel by that date, then we cannot refund your money, as we will need to pay for your room and board anyway.

Who's Coming in 2k8?

Refer to this table to see who else is coming, or to verify that your reservation has been received and is secured after payment. An X in the "Dorm" column indicates that person is staying in the dorm, otherwise they are finding lodging elsewhere. An X in the "Paid" column indicates that payment has been received for the dorm room, and that your reservation is secure. If you're planning to come, but are not in this table, please e-mail me or fill out the Registration form, even if you're not staying in the dorm. Rows with matching colors indicate a pair sharing a room with two beds. Also, an X in the "Shirt" column indicates that a FWLT 2008 t-shirt has been paid for. Note that shirts are sold separately, so if you want one, please follow the instructions below.

The T-Shirt

A custom silkscreened T-Shirt will be made again this year. Unfortunately, I cannot "spring" for everyone's shirt again. If you would like a FWLT 2008 shirt, you must pay for it in advance. The cost is $20 per shirt. The design in the image to the right is preliminary, and might change significantly. Each shirt will be customized with the owner's name or nickname on the back, and in the size specified by the owner. Shirt orders MUST be received by August 1st to be valid. Late orders will be refunded. Please follow these steps to ensure you get a shirt this year:

  1. Refer to this Sizing Guide and note the size(s) you need.
  2. Decide what name or nickname you would like on the back of your shirt. Note that names will be in ALL CAPS.
  3. Click the PayPal Donate button below to send me $20 for your shirt.
  4. PLEASE include your desired name/nickname and shirt size in a note along with your donation.
  5. Repeat these steps for additional shirts as needed.

Stuff to Bring

Just a quick list of stuff you'll want to consider bringing with you, aside from yourself and your toothbrush.

  1. Your Taggers. We'll have loaners available, but if you have your own, especially if you did some cools mods or a neat paintjob, definitely bring it and show it off!
  2. FRS Radios. When we play team games, we'll have each team select a different channel to use so that they can employ tactics without yelling and giving them away. If you have a radio (and headset), bring it. If you have extras, please bring those, too, so that those without radios can borrow them. Be sure to mark your belongings for easy identification when it's time to return them to their rightful owners.

FAQs

If you have any questions that aren't answered on this page, please e-mail me.

Q. What type of gear will be used at this event?
A. For most, if not all, games, we will be using stock Lazer Tag Team Ops gear. It is likely that we will host at least one "no mods barred" game, and it is possible that we will host a WoW compatible game, in which any WoW compatible gear could be used. If you are flying in and would prefer not to bring your own gear, we will have extras available to borrow on game day.
Q. Will there be an overall theme or scenario?
A. Probably not, but we are open to submissions. If you have an idea for a scenario game and can be the coordinator of the game, please feel free to e-mail me. A coordinator will need to be able to enlist volunteers to help, and ensure that all players are fully aware of their role in the game. Even without a complex scenario or theme, we will probably play some simple scenario games such as Medic! and Escort the VIP, but an overall story arc is not planned. Our intention is to fill the day with seemingly non stop laser tag fun and action. Complex stories and missions can often lead to excessive down times, which we would like to avoid.
Q. Do we need to bring a sleeping bag or sheets and a blanket for the bed?
A. No. One of the reasons for the price increase is that the Fort now inludes bed linens in the cost for dorm rooms. As such, everyone will have bed linens to use for their stay, and do not need to bring their own.
