Chapter 23: Future Truths

Red Convoy helped Galvacron's troops into the CR chambers on the vehicon pirate ship. The walls were stacked with junk, or to the vehicons, treasure. Red set Bitterstorm down in the chamber and closed the hatch. The hatch sealed shut with a hiss and the restoration began.
Red stood up and wiped his big red and black hands together, cleaning off any energon scoring. Sandstrike appeared behind him, just after putting the LaserJets into their own individual chambers, "Where's the Pirate goon at?" Sandstrike asked.
Red looked at him and said, "Down the hall in his quarters." Sandstrike shrugged and was uninterested.
"He weepin' or somethin'?" He asked, trying to humor up Red since they departed from the she-pred.
"Far from it. He's getting his gear together and coming with us." Red said.
"He's coming with us on our ship?" Sandstrike asked.
"Yeah, Bitterstorm is taking the pirate ship back to Earth to attempt to meet up with the Airbots' ship." Red told him, "We could use some reinforcements to stop Megatron."
"So, uh, while we're waiting, you think the 'con'll care if we go through some of the junk?" Sandstrike asked, picking up an autobot arm and hand.
"I don't care, Sandsack." Red said, "So tell me, why are you involved in this mission?" Sandstrike followed Red to the command area, they gathered around a circular table similar to the Axalon's.
"I was on an exploration ship when there was a transwarp drive explosion." Sandstrike said, trying to remember the details. "Vehipreds took over our moon palace. On one of Cybertron's moons. My father put me on board the first class exploration ship of the royal family."
"So you ended up back in time?" Red asked. He wanted to find out the whole story behind Sandstrike.
"Yeah, in the future, the Iva conflict was turned into a bloody war, most of the predacons and vehicons got slaughtered by the Maximals. It seemed like a good thing at the time, but the sparks of the dead 'cons and preds came together and formed the vehipreds. The vehipreds chose Megatron as their leader." Sandstrike told the fire fighter.
"So you want to stop Megatron before he instigates the war?" Red wondered.
"Yeah. When he instigated the war, the vehipreds praised him for creating their race." Sandstrike explained. He thought about his father, the memory coming back. He remembered a few details of his father, but that was it. "If I stop Megatron, my father would still be alive."
"And if that doesn't work?" Red asked, consoling the small maximal.
"Then there's only one option left." Sandstrike said, determination showing in his eyes. His beast parts showed dark green, representing maturity.
