Chapter 5: What is it?!?

"Slag-it, I'm not going to lose another friend to Megadolt's mindless ambition" Kilastra screamed to herself over the roar of failing hull panels. Using her numerous, dextrous and powerful tentacles, she freed Ignatz from the ship debris, and pulled him away from the damaged area of the corridor.

"Engineering! Emergency transport! Engineering!?" she cried, not noticing the click from her comm, rather than the beep that responds when it's functioning properly.

"Slag it all! If they want to destroy themselves, they can, but I'm outta here!"

Kilastra pulled her new friend behind her as she made her way toward a transport tube. Energy shields were going up all over the deck to protect from the hull breach. Ignatz was gaining consciousness, but could only help by keeping his limbs from catching on a doorway or other obstacle.

She jumped into a tube to the nearest shuttle bay, one she had checked out before hand, carrying Ignatz in her tentacles behind her. The shuttle bay was devoid of ship crew. They were all either helping Megatron keep the ship from plummeting into the sun, or cowering in their stasis chambers until everything was over. Kilastra was glad she had prepared for such an event, and gave the command to open the door into the shuttle she found.

What Kilastra didn't realize was that this was not just ANY shuttle. It looked pretty much like any other shuttle on the outside, as well as on the inside, but she hadn't had a chance to check out the controls yet.

"What the SLAG?!?" she gasped to herself after sitting down at the controls, "What kind of shuttle is this?!"

*** Hull Breach on all decks in 3 microclicks... *** announced the comm... it was time to bolt!

Kilastra figured out the guidance system, as it was similar to most shuttles, and launched the shuttle from the Vengeance. As the shuttle cleared the ship, she saw numerous escape pods ejecting from the sides of the ship. Unfortunately, most plummeted immediately into the sun. Good thing this shuttle had at least sub-light engines. And from the bizarre controls, it probably had a lot more!

She managed to get the shuttle far enough away from the Vengeance that she was able to witness it's destruction. With as much power and weaponry the Vengeance had, it's ending was of little consequence. A few decks blew out, and some energy burts were seen arcing into the sun, but other than that, the ship merely descended slowly into the sun, and burned up as it entered the sun's outer layers.

After programming a course for the nearest nebula, she managed to find some controls marked "detection inhibitor" and activated them. Megatron never was very creative with the technical side of his plans. His ambition and ignorance seem to have led, again, to the end of his grand plan.

Ignatz finally gained enough cerebral functions to appear up to his former speed, and asked his new friend what was going on. Kilastra told him the whole story, and he sat there staring as if he were Grimlock listening to Kup.

Upon arriving at the predestined nebula, they actually took some time to look around the shuttle and maybe figure out what all the funny looking controls were for.

"Hey, Kil! What's 'technical specification' mean?" asked Ignatz, his name become more logical to Kilastra with each passing cycle.

"Gimme that!!!" she said, grabbing it from him with her nearest tentacle.

As she flipped through the text, her eyes widened, and her jaw opened.

"By the Matrix!" she said in awe, "Do you know what this shuttle actually is?!?!"

What do you do now?

The shuttle is actually a time machine of Megatron's own design.
The shuttle has a new propulsion and weapon system able to harness energy directly from a star.
